I am trying to nail down my stance on border issues and you seem to be very passionate on the issue so I will ask you... here's my rub, so see what you think...
Jesus talked a lot about welcoming the stranger, even people outside of your country or your race or your religion (even those dirty Samaritans), and loving them just as your own family...(not exploiting them, as I think we do by paying them cheap cheap wages...the book of Ruth slams that pretty hard, too).

I know it's not practical to let EVERYONE in (pretty soon we'll cave in I know) , but somehow I can't reconcile Jesus with the idea that I deserve to live in America in luxury and someone else has to live on a buck a day (or less) because they don't meet the racial quotas for immigrating legally... I also can't see Jesus standing at the border with a gun shooting people down because they are trying to escape the oppressive poverty their country affords them.

I'd like to know what you think...I'm sure there's an answer somewhere in the middle (not, "hey let everyone in until we have just as few resources as the next country", but not "you suck because you're not american, go eat your rice and beans and never dream of more", either...i'm just not sure what it is.)
